People born in the Year of the Dragon are healthy, energetic, excitable, short-tempered, and stubborn. They are also honest, sensitive, brave, and they inspire confidence and trust. Dragon people are the most eccentric of any in the eastern zodiac. They neither borrow money nor make flowery speeches, but they tend to be soft-hearted which sometimes gives others an advantage over them. They are compatible with Rats, Snakes, Monkeys, and Roosters.

Amigurumi dragon is a lovely gift to make for people who born in May or any the year of Dragon (1916, 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012, 2024).

What is Zodiac amigurumi crochet along? 

CAL: You guys might be familiar with the concept of crochet along (CAL). But for those who never know about this kind of event, technically CAL is an event that people will crochet a project together as parts of the patterns are revealed throughout the event.

Language: The ZODIACCAL is held in English, but you can simply hit the flag icon on the top right of the screen to translate to your preferred language (drop me a message if you want to add another language to the bar)

Timeframe: This ZODIACCAL will run from 8th – 13th May 2021, EST, and the deadline to enter the giveaways is midnight 14th May 2021, EST. Winners will be announced 2 days after that on 17th May

Every day from May 8-12, I will release 1 part of the crocheted zodiac dragon for free here in this post, so that we all can follow easily. If you want all parts of the pattern at the same time, join the VIP plan.

Light purple yarn in normal text, Yellow yarn in bold text

Insert safety eyes between rows 7-8, 7 sts apart

12) 16X, 4X, 16X (36)

13-14) 15X, 6X, 15X (36)

Easily make the body flat: Pull the yarn tail upward to the top of the head, then pull a little bit and tie up.

TAIL AND SPINE OF THE CROCHET DRAGON

SPINE Dark purple  yarn

We will crochet on the surface. Insert yarn at the end of the tail and crochet toward the head, 1CH

1) Surface crochet, 21X, turn, CH (2)

2) (skip 1, 3F at the same st, SS)*7

FO. Hide the yarn tail

Note: If you find it is too hard, just replace row 1 with 22CH, crochet at the second loop from hook following row 2. Then sew to the tail and body.

1) 6CH, crochet at the 4th loop from hook FV, TV, X (5), turn, CH

2) BLO 3X (3), turn

3) 3CH, crochet at the FLO loops of row 2 FV, TV, X (5)

Repeat rows 2-3 one more time. FO.

The arms: Please follow the instruction of the Zodiac Rat

ASSEMBLING

Sew the horns  to the head at rows 3-4, opposite each other across the MR

Sew the ears to the head at row 5, opposite each other across the MR

Sew the arms to the body at row 11-13, 9sts apart

Sew the wings to 2 sides of the body at rows 10-14

Embroider the face and stomach
